How to install Endpoint Central MSP at Microsoft Azure?

For those who wish to ease their server management using Microsoft Azure virtual machine, can now install Endpoint Central MSP at your virtual machine and manage your desktops and mobile devices with ease.

Pre-requisites

For managing computers using Endpoint Central MSP at Microsoft Azure, ensure that you meet the following pre-requisites

  1. Say if you are planning to manage upto 1000 computers using Endpoint Central MSP, we recommend you to have the following configurations
    • VM  size - A2 standard or above
    • OS - Windows server 2008 or above

    Note: You may have to change the configurations according to the number of computers you are managing. To know more about creating virtual machine click here.

  2. Ensure that the virtual machine's Public IP/DNS is not blocked by any firewall and is accessible to all client computers.
  3. Open the ports of Endpoint Central MSP at Microsoft Azure Network Security Groups for smooth communication between the Endpoint Central MSP server and the client computers.
  4. Ensure to increase the TCP timeout.
To increase the TCP timeout, follow the below steps:
  • Login to your Azure portal and select the machine in which you want to configure Endpoint Central MSP server.
  • Navigate to properties, and select PUBLIC IP ADDRESS/DNS NAME LABEL.
  • Increase the TCP timeout to a minimum of 10 minutes.

Steps 

After purchasing your virtual machine from Microsoft Azure, you can install Endpoint Central MSP at your virtual machine by following the steps given below,

  1. Remotely connect to your virtual machine
  2. In that virtual machine, open your web browser
  3. Download and install Endpoint Central MSP

You have now successfully installed the Endpoint Central MSP server. To proceed further, you have to install Endpoint Central MSP agent on the computers you want to manage. You can install agents using any of the below ways,

  1. Install agents manually
  2. Install agents using Windows GPO

Note: When you access the Endpoint Central MSP using the virtual machine's public IP/DNS address, note that the virtual machine's public IP/DNS address changes when the machine is stopped/re-allocated. As Endpoint Central MSP works on a agent-server model, it is recommended to use a Reserved IP address for uninteruppted communication between the server and the client computers.
