Import views from templates

Analytics Plus allows you to import views stored in the form of pre-built template files. This feature enables you to copy reports, dashboards and tables from one workspace or installation to another, and facilitates sharing and collaboration.

1. What are templates in Analytics Plus?

Templates or template files in Analytics Plus carry the design and layout of views (reports, dashboards and tables). Template files can be used to copy views from one workspace or installation to the other. This reduces the effort and time involved in creating similar reports across different departments or business units. Template files do not include the underlying data and only carry the design blueprint of the views.

2. How do I import views from a template?

3. Is it possible to copy views from one workspace to another?

Yes. You can export reports, dashboards and tables as a template from one workspace, and import the template file into the destination workspace to access them. Click here to learn about exporting views as a template file.

4. Can I retain the source's table relationships while importing views from templates?

Yes. If all related/dependent tables are imported into the destination workspace, the lookup relationship between them will be retained. In case all related tables are not present in the template file, you can choose to remap the views to the tables in the destination workspace manually. To learn more about remapping a table or column while importing views from templates, refer to this presentation. To learn more about relational data modeling in Analytics Plus, click here.

5. What is a Mismatch?

Mismatches may occur when the destination workspace (the workspace into which the template is being imported) is slightly different from the source workspace. Mismatch warnings can also arise when template files include views that have the same name as that of the views in the destination workspace. These mismatches will be listed while importing views from a template, and can be resolved easily. Refer to the following question to know more.
